student loan question?
I went to fanshawe college 2 years ago i finished up dropping out due to not being able to keep up with rent and school and work. when i finally got my OSAP loan which was very late i was already out of school… its been two years in that time i got pregnant now im on ontario works I have no money no job no child support due to the father leaving me, now the ontario OSAP loan want their 5 thousand $ $ back and i cant pay them im broke and now struggling to support a baby on my own. what im wondering is how can i get outta paying my OSAP loan!!!! and if claiming bankruptsy will eliminate any and all debt i owe, btw i also owe bell canada and a credit card conpany sooo im in loads of distress, and i dont even buy myslef grocerys because my son is my whole world and i always make sure hes fed and clothed way before me!.. how can i get out of this mess and any advice will help!….I don’t know anything about Canada but I do know in the US, if you file bankruptcy it WILLNOT eliminate your student loan debt. This is money owed to the government. Try working with the debtor and making payments. If you file bankruptcy, this will only delay any enforcement actions they have in mind for you….
You might go to a credible credit counseling company. In the USA, you have to start paying back your student loan six months after you leave school. Since the loan comes from the federal government, it is unlikely that bankruptcy will save you from that debt, but it will get you some relief on the credit card and the phone company. The credit counseling company contacts the people to whom you owe money and arranges for a reduction in the debt in return for a minimal monthly payment. The bankruptcy laws in the US just got tougher a couple of years ago and I don’t know what the bankruptcy laws are in Canada, but you could call a bankruptcy lawyer in Canada and question if a consultation would cost you anything. Don’t pay for a consultation. Let them hear your tale and tell you what declaring bankruptcy can do for you before you pay a lawyer any money.
pay it back,its that simple.thats right,file for bankruptcy so that the rest of the people who apply for loans get nailed wih a higher rate because you didnt live up to your responsiblity,you should have never accepted the check or informed them that you were out of school and didnt need it,but you chose to keep the money and spend it on getting knocked up.tough cookies,you made the bed,now sleep in it.

if this is Ontario, Canada..you need to scroll down to the Canadian flag and question there..this is the US and we don’t know.. oh..and btw..theres also an Ontario in CA (california, usa)
OSAP funding question…?
I am receiving OSAP help while attending college… I was just reading over my funding breakdown… it says I will be receiving $ 7,000 from ontario/canada student loans, and a $ 3000 millenium bursary… does that mean that I am going to receive $ 7,000 or $ 10,000?This means that you will be receiving $ 7000 in loans, as well as a $ 3000 grant. The grant does not have to be paid back. So in total, you will be receiving $ 10 000, but you will only have to pay back $ 7000.
