When does my BC / Canada Student Loan get deposited into my bank account?
I’ve gone through the whole approval process, filed my Master Student Loan Agreement, and given a void cheque at the Post Office. I am currently in my last year in high school. My dream school is UBC. I have the marks to get in; my AVG is currently 89% (Arts). Unfortunately, due to the conditions, I am not eligible for grants or govenrment bursaries. Aside from scholarships and continuing my Fri-Sun shifts at KFC, I have no way of paying for my post-secondary education. It’s either I go to Kwantlen for the first two years and transfer into UBC in third year or take a year off to earn more money. What do I do now? Hey there! UBC’s policy on financial support declares that no eligible Canadian student will be prevented from attending UBC for financial reasons alone. See https://you.ubc.ca/ubc/vancouver/loans.ezc My sanction is to contact Student Financial Help and Awards—they take appointments with prospective students and families, not just current students. Their contact info is awards.inquiry@ubc.ca, 604-822-5111. We also have a number of need-based awards that you may qualify for, such as bursaries or the Major Entrance Awards.
