Q&A: what is the requirement to receive grants on fafsa? Fafsa Grants

what is the condition to receive grants on fafsa?

i going apply on fafsa and i just wondering what is the condition to receive a grant and a loans etc. and how can we get them. if i can get grants and loans on fafsa do they just call or email to let me know. i am asking this question because this is my first time using fafsa do fafsa give you loan and grant if yoou meet their requiremne

If you are new to the world of loans, then all the jargon and language can seem very confusing. There are so many different terms to know, and unless you know some of them you will not find the best loan deal to suit your needs. If you want to know more, then here is a guide to some of the basic loan terms you might need to know. http://www.worldbestloans.com/ The lower the APR, then the cheaper the loan interest will be. Credit scoring is a method that lenders use to determine your eligibility for a loan. They question a series of questions about your earnings and financial situation. Each answer you give is scored, and the better your score then the more likely you are to be accepted for a loan.

It depends on the school. FAFSA itself does not give out the grants- the state that you are living in and your school gives out the grants. FAFSA is an attention, and it figures out what your EFC – or your estimated family role – is. That is then compared to the cost of the school you are going to, they evaluate their funds, and spread them to each person in view of that. If you have a low EFC, then you will more than likely get grants, etc. Again, it completely depends on the state and your school

Fill out the paperwork and tell them what college you are going to once you get your tuition statement it will tell you the specific amount you will receive, but prior to that they will give you an e-mail or snail mail confirmation that they received your attention and this is what you are projected to get. Small tip if you are going to a branch of a college and not the main campus, you can receive the board of regents grant depending on the state in which you live.

Can anyone help me with the FAFSA, grants and other student aids?

I have no thought what they are and how they work. Anything I should know before hand? Any infomation would help. Websites, personal experience? Thanks a lot =D.

u need to have your tax info from last year. u can do it online but need to get a pin # http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/FOTWWebApp/complete004.jsp

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ <- official website Talk to your high school counselor or financial aid office at the college you plot on attending for help filling it out and researching your options. Also try http://www.fastweb.com Usually there are workshops held for seniors at high schools for parents and students. Try finding out if your district holds these events.

Your college should be able to tell you what you need to know. You can also go on FAFSA’s website for directions.

Financial Aid For Older Students

When will I find out about grants for FAFSA?

I sent in my and my parents FAFSA on the 23rd of January and it was processed on the 25th of January. How long will it take to find out how much I will get in grants from the government? Will it tell me on the FAFSA’s website or do I have to contact the college I am going to?

Your EFC will give you a excellent thought of what kind of grants you’ll get from the govt – the lower your EFC, the better. Your individual colleges will send you financial aid packages in the mail when they received your processed FAFSA. Depending on the college, this can be from a week or two to a few months – generally, the larger the college, the more time it will take for them to get back to you. Their aid packages will include both the federal (government) grants you’re eligible for and the college/university’s own grants/loans.

Usually you will receive a SAR in a few weeks that will let you know how much your parents need to contribute, but as far as the amount you will receive in grants..is left up to the school that you plot on attending. Once the school receives your FAFSA they will place together a financial aid package for you that will include the amount you will receive in grants, scholarships, and student loans.

the college you applied to will tell you. my college has a website that allows me to view it online. i dont know about your school. some do it online and some send it via mail. but anyway you will get it from the school. all fafsa does it send your info to the school, and its up to the school to assign the aid.

The finicial aid department at your school will help, and most will find you scholarships you didn’t know they had. My first semester of college I went in and they found me over $ 2,000 in scholarships that I didn’t know was available, so when I got the over check I was massively excited!

FAFSA is the free application for federal student aid and you must fill out out to be considered for student loans, grants, and need based scholarships. You will need your household tax and income information (Yours and any that apply, depending on whether you’re independent: parents, spouse). You will also have to know which schools you want to receive your information. At this time, you can only fill out the FAFSA online. I can’t remember the site, but you should be able to access it off of any college’s financial page.
Fill it out as soon as you can if you want aid this semester.

FAFSA.edu I believe is the site…or is it org. Anyway, it’s basically your parents income tax info and yearly household earnings, your high school gpa and college attending etc on paper or online. You need to go to the website fill it out accurately and send it in. They will send you a pin number, you will need to use the pin to electronically sign it, your parents need one as well so you need a total of two pin numbers…one for you to use and one for your parents. After it’s been signed by your parents and you and sent in, it’ll be reviewed by your school(college) and the board, they’ll send you a Student Aid Report or SAR…that’ll determine wheather you are eligable for government grants or school scholarships. Fill out the FAFSA in January, that’s very important and apply to colleges as soon as you get back to school, that way you’ll get replies before January. That’s also very important. I’m not a teacher but I worked at the Career Center at my old high school, my teacher beat it into me everyday for a whole semester my senior year.

Just be truthful about everything (except the one question about if you’ve ever been convicted of a drug offense). Joking. There is a Q about that, though. Go to the Financial Aid office at your school and ask them everything you can think of. Write down everything you want to know. See a counselor if you have to, and see how much they know. Go to the EOP&S Office. That’s part of FA. Never put off any paper work. You’ll regret it while waiting for that check to come, knowing that every day you wait could mean weeks more of waiting.
You’ll need your taxes and social security card, Driver license or ID. They want to know how much you earned the year before, so if you have that info, bring it with you. You can do the FAFSA online, but still have to go into the FA office afterward, whether they say so or not. Give your online info time to register (few days) then go to the FA office.

That site lists a variety of scholarships. Is probably worth a look.

The second you hit the “Submit” button on the fafsa it would have given you a conformation page to print out and your results on if you were eligible for the federal Pell grant and how much. You must read this page in order to find out if you qualify for grants.

However, if you did your fafsa without completed income tax returns your fafsa won’t be complete until you go in and enter the updated/correct tax information.

No, the fafsa website won’t tell you any more than what I stated above. It usually says something like, “Based on the information you gave us, and if all the information is correct… you will be eligible for XXX in the federal Pell grant. (or not eligible for the Pell grant) but you may be eligible for other types of aid such as low interest federal student loans.

The only way to get the EXACT amounts you are being offered is to send the school the information the fin aid office requests from you and when they get all that… THEN they will issue you an “Award Letter”. This is a detailed letter (sometimes an email) stating exactly what kinds of aid you are being offered and how much. Award letters are hardly ever send out this early in the year… I think I used to get mine in May… for the following Fall and Spring semesters.

In other words… you’ve got a long wait.

Read this book cover to cover. It may help. And don’t forget you’ll need to make corrections when your parents get their taxes done. Doing the fafsa before the taxes is done is pretty pointless really, no school will issue you an award letter based on estimated / aka WRONG information.
